K-12 Programs Overview
Programs for K-12 students and teachers are central to our education and outreach mission. More than 10,000 school children visit Biosphere 2 annually. We offer grade-level tours and interactive, hands-on programs for all K-12 grades, residential summer programs for middle and high school students, and teacher professional development programs. In addition, we partner with numerous organizations offering citizen science programs that, in most cases, are applicable to the K-12 classroom. Lastly, we actively seek opportunities to collaborate with other universities and organizations in developing and hosting meaningful opportunities for students using the unique scientific attributes of Biosphere 2.
Feedback from Tucson Teacher, Rebecca: "I wanted to express my gratitude again for providing such an excellent experience for my Biology students the past two days! The interactive level of engagement was great! I am not kidding when I said students would not stop talking about it. I even heard from other teachers in other subject levels comment on how much students enjoyed their time. The labs aligned perfectly with their background knowledge in their content area and solidified the importance of knowing and understanding tools of measurement."
