Engaging Saturday Events! Join us at Biosphere 2 for a variety of family-friendly activities and events. Specialty Tours: each month, Biosphere 2 will host a special 2-hour tour experience with one of our scientists or directors. Visitors will have special access to behind-the-scenes spaces of the facility and up-to-date insights about the important research being conducted at the world’s largest controlled Earth systems research laboratory. Facebook Live: this fall, Biosphere 2 is rolling out a series of Facebook Live and informational videos. Be on the look out for one of our Biosphere 2 scientists for real-time stories and ask the questions you’ve always wanted to ask!

If you would like to get empowered with the knowledge to face any of the challenges that Nature may throw your way, then join longtime Wilderness Survival Instructor, Wildlife Biologist, & Ethnobotanist Vincent Pinto at Biosphere 2 for this fun, innovative, and practical workshop. Learn a variety of hands-on Survival Skills, using only materials gleaned directly from Nature. This empowering workshop covers a number of key wilderness survival priorities including: Fire-making, Wilderness Tools, Cordage, Natural Navigation, Water Finding & Purification, Signaling, and more!  By the end of the day you will have learned many life-saving skills and add fascinating and valuable wilderness survival knowledge to your repertoire! Via artful displays, live demonstrations, and hands-on activities Vincent will cover a wide range of topics.  Learn how to: make fire without any modern tools, how to craft rope from native plants, eat wild edible plants, create tools from rocks, tell which desert plants and animals are dangerous, and much more!  Each skill will be approached with sound science and conservation in mind.  Whether you come for a quick demonstration or stay for a while you’re sure to have fun during this unique and informative day of Wilderness Survival Skills!
