Arizona Center for STEM Teachers-Educator Training at Biosphere 2
2019 2-day Overnight STEM Professional Development Experience for Secondary Education Science Teachers!
In 2019 Biosphere 2 and the University of Arizona NSF-Noyce Border Scholars Program presented a two-day workshop on the hydrosphere and STEM teaching. Earth-as-a-System guided exploration of water scientifically and as a global resource. Included was a comprehensive tour of the Biosphere 2 research facility. Experts in the field provided a regional hydrosphere focus through a citizen science lens, looked at GLOBE program projects and water-sheds specific to Arizona.

Date: June 7-8, 2018

Workshop Details and Application Review:
We will begin reviewing applications on May 10 and will notify participants on a rolling basis thereafter. Accepted middle or high school teachers should arrive no later than 9:45am on Thursday, June 7 and have the option of staying overnight in our casita village at Biosphere 2. The workshop will begin in 10am Thursday and run until mid afternoon on Friday, June 8. All meals and lodging (double occupancy) will be included.
Space and funding are limited; we will be evaluating applications to create the most appropriate workshop cohort of about 20 teachers. If you can bring PD resources from your district or school to pay for workshop costs, that may increase your chances of acceptance.
Thanks for all you do!
