Aaron Bugaj

Aaron Bugaj is a Research Technologist III at Biosphere 2 and Lead Technologist for the Landscape Evolution Observatory (LEO), where he works at the intersection of environmental science, emerging technology, and cinematic storytelling. His work spans hydrologic and Earth systems research, science communication, digital media production, and strategic marketing initiatives designed to translate complex scientific ideas into compelling public narratives.

At Biosphere 2, Aaron leads and produces a wide range of science communication efforts, including the Biosphere 2 Podcast, documentary film production, cinematic data visualization, animation initiatives, branded storytelling campaigns, and multimedia experiences that connect research with public audiences. He is also Co-Founder of the Wonder Studio at Biosphere 2, an interdisciplinary creative laboratory focused on art, science, film, animation, and immersive environmental storytelling.

Aaron holds a B.S. in Environmental Science from Seattle University and an M.S. in Marketing Science from the University of Arizona Eller College of Management. His background uniquely bridges scientific research, technical marketing, and creative media production, with expertise in SEO strategy, SEM/digital advertising, brand development, audience growth, science storytelling, and multimedia campaign design.

In addition to his terrestrial research work, Aaron is an AAUS Scientific Diver and underwater media producer, contributing to coral reef documentation, marine conservation storytelling, and underwater field research initiatives in locations including the Marshall Islands. His film and communication work has supported collaborations with researchers, nonprofits, universities, and environmental organizations focused on resilience, climate science, and ecological restoration.
